“I worked with Grace closely for two years, including about 10 months as her manager. During that time, I was consistently impressed by her skills, initiative, and dedication to our mission to help founders and marketers. For her first writing assignment for Demand Curve’s Growth Program, we gave her a few topics to choose from. She picked the hardest one: growth experimentation. Why? Although it was packed with tactics, the guide leaned heavily on real-world examples and storytelling to make each takeaway memorable, and to make it clear how practitioners could apply it to their own work. That wasn’t a fluke. Grace brought the same energy, curiosity, meticulous research, and thoroughness to all the content she produced. She would take complex topics like pricing and brand strategy and turn them into digestible, high-leverage resources. (They were ready to publish, too. Grace’s editing background becomes evident when she sends in flawless copy, or when she’s tasked with editing someone else’s work and the results are: 1) a happy writer who’s grateful for the thoughtful feedback, and 2) immaculate content.) While I admire Grace’s writing and research skills, what really sets her apart, in my book, is the initiative she takes. She saw that we didn’t have an editorial style guide, so she created one. She saw that we didn’t have an editorial process doc, so she created that too. She knew we could be doing more to raise awareness for some of our products, so she built marketing campaigns to get the word out and drive more sales. She works fast but never sacrifices quality for speed. And she does everything with positivity and, fittingly, grace. She’s a listener—which makes her an exceptional interviewer of both customers and subject-matter experts—but don’t let that fool you.
